Easy Like Sunday Morning
Was doodling this morning while Kat was at school. I really liked the way the image came out so I decided to re-draw it in Photoshop. There is a surprise twist though; I used the pencil tool(Bum-bum-bum!). The lines came out really clean so I'm happy. After a short break I'm going to go back and color it. Until then, go back to staring at Kat's awesome Dragon.

The Lion King
So I had won tickets to The Lion King (the live musical) in a raffle on Friday, and I went to see it with Mike yesterday. It was pretty awesome, 'nough said about that. Before the show I had been working on this:
It's one of the First Dragons important to my personal stories and lore. It's ballpoint pen over an initially un-detailed sketch. The little cut off scribbles are part of a crude size comparison chart (by the way I settled on them being about 20 feet tall). For those of you who didn't know, ballpoint pen is one of my favorite mediums to work with. Especially really cheap ballpoint pens. They're like permanent pencils. Anyway, this is the first time in a while that I have worked on an intricate scale pattern. It's a sketch, but I'm fairly happy with this.

Making Faces
This is Sparky:
Whenever I need to practice something, in this case facial expressions, I use sparky as my go to template. I do this for two reasons; one, it helps me practice consistency (hopefully he looks the same in each drawing); and two, well he's just fun to draw. On a side note, I love the image on the bottom right. Mostly because the slicked back hair makes him look like a creepy Phoenix Wright.

Paper or Plastic?
I have successfully invaded Caitlin's blog! She added me this morning and yet I haven't made a single contribution to this thing...until now. So here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for. MY FIRST POST!
It's BAG BOY! He's the super mundane front service clerk. His powers include picking between Paper and Plastic(sometimes both!), getting carts, and cleaning the floors. His weakness, bathrooms!
For those of you interested in what I do all day. |
Keeping Busy
Been working on updating the pages. So far I have what I could get done
of the 'About Us' page. Wrote a little blurb about my life, reminded me
that I made this a few weeks ago.
They are my fish Luke and Vader.
They were done in a watercolor Moleskine notebook that I got for Christmas. Used watercolor colored pencils and Prismacolor pens for inking. Waiting on Mike to get home to finish his bit of the 'About Us' page. There isn't much to do so I'll just draw a few things and upload them later. And work on the other pages too, I guess.

Additional Author
Hey everybody, I've gone ahead and added another person to the blog: my long-time boyfriend Mike! He'll be posting his day-to-day things as well so just as a reminder you may have to look at the authors of the posts if you can't tell who it is already. That's all I have right now, but it's early so maybe more later.

Oh and Real Quick...
I was catching up with my friend Laura, and she asked me to draw her character and one of mine having a mud-fight. So here you go girl!
A First Time for Everything...
Okay, so it's here that I hope to start posting work unseen by the Internet, which is just about all of my work. I'll play with ideas, show you things I wasn't supposed to be doing in class, and probably complain about my day. Oh and hearing from you guys wouldn't be so bad.
I thought that I should start things off by posting some scraps I did the other day. These guys were originally all randomly generated closed shapes, then I turned them into critters.
As you can see, these guys got pretty weird pretty quickly. I would have to say that my favorite is the sheepy-cowish thing in the bottom left-hand corner of the page.
This was an incredibly fun exercise and I recommend it to other bored or uninspired people.
Anyway, I'm hoping to have something more exciting next time, but I probably won't.
